Message From the Literacy Coordinator

Susan Webster

Since August 1, 2011, I have been working with the Cabarrus Literacy Council to give leadership to this organization.  The Board of Directors consists of twelve professionals from our community who believe that literacy is the key to an individual reaching his/her full potential as a person, parent, and member of the community.  In Cabarrus County, there are thousands of adults over 18 years of age who are not able to read a prescription label or apply for a job.  The purpose of the Cabarrus Literacy Council is to teach adults to read and write.  The team of volunteer tutors meets with students to tutor them on a weekly basis throughout the County.  If you know of an adult who has literacy issues, please ask him/her to phone me so that we might be able to guide them on the path towards reading and writing.  If you would like to become a volunteer tutor, please contact us at:  704-920-ABCD.
